TGIF New Castle – July 11, 2008

 

Skip the beach traffic and save gas by spending a Friday evening in Historic New Castle this summer!  With lots of dining, shopping and museum going, our next TGIF New Castle event on July 11, 2008 is sure to be a blast!  Join us for a fun-filled spring evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in this remarkably friendly small town, listed as one of “The 1,000 Places to Visit Before You Die.” 
 
 Experience New Castle’s unique blend of architecture and vibrant community spirit!  Tour some of Delaware’s most historic and cherished buildings, enjoy a relaxing meal in one of our first class restaurants, grab a pint in one our historic taverns, and shop at one of our many specialty boutiques.  All the while enjoy free musical entertainment in the town square.

The New Castle Courthouse and Velocipede Museums are open free of charge during the event.  Our famous historic house museums – the Amstel, Dutch, and Read Houses – welcome you with a specially-priced combination tour ticket for $6.00 – a 50% savings off regular admission.  Plenty of free parking is available throughout the historic area.

New Castle’s charm is world famous!  From the original cobblestone streets, to the beautiful and expansive Battery Park on the Delaware River– New Castle is THE place to be on Friday, July 11!

ABOUT: TGIF New Castle is a free community event coordinated by the New Castle Heritage Tourism Group.  The Heritage Tourism Group is a partnership between the City of New Castle, The Delaware Historical Society, The New Castle Courthouse Museum, The New Castle Historical Society, The Velocipede Museum, and the New Castle Visitors Bureau.

SEPARATION DAY – 2nd Saturday in June. This event is a birthday celebration of Delaware’s “separation” from England and Pennsylvania. Various events, include 11:00 parade, Battery Park festivities include beautiful baby contest, magic show, reenactments, non profit info booths, rides, all day bands, children’s activities, food, evening concerts, and Fireworks.
